Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Assembly Technician to support the assembly of key sub-assemblies and final system builds. This role is integral to ensuring our products are built to the highest standards of safety, performance, and quality. You will be working in a small multifunctional team to constantly improve quality, cost control, productivity and safety. Key Responsibilities 

1. Assembly of Sub-Systems and Final Builds 
- Assemble mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies to both defined and prototype specifications. 
- Support full BESS system builds, ensuring consistency and quality across each unit. 

2. Build Process and Documentation 
- Record all build-related data, including serial numbers, part traceability, and quality checks. 
- Provide feedback and support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) and Bill of Process (BoP) documentation. 
- Follow defined work instructions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. 

3. Health & Safety, Quality and Compliance 
- Conduct self-inspection and basic functional checks on completed assemblies. 
- Highlight and resolve build issues with the engineering and engineering teams. 
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment in line with company and regulatory standards
- Ensure H&S is front and centre in everything you do.  

4. Support Engineering and R&D Activities 
- Assist in prototype builds and iterative changes during development phases. 
- Provide practical input to design and engineering teams on manufacturability and serviceability. 

 

Qualifications

Skills and Experience 

Required: 
- Experience working in a mechanical/electrical assembly environment, ideally in automotive, energy storage
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. 
- Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment. 
- A methodical approach to work, with a strong attention to detail and documentation. 
- Comfortable using digital tools for recording build data and following digital work instructions. 

Desirable: 
- High Voltage (HV) awareness or formal training
- IMI Level 3 in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement or equivalent. 
- Familiarity with lithium-ion battery systems, battery management systems (BMS), and thermal management 
- Experience with low-volume or prototype builds in a startup or R&D-led environment. 
- Understanding of UN38.3, ADR compliance, or CE/UKCA marking considerations (training provided if required).
