Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Plant Manager to join their team, reporting directly to the President/Owner. The primary focus of this role is to provide overall leadership and strategic direction for a 30,000 sq. ft.,1.5 shift non-union food industry manufacturing operation of approximately 30 employees. This includes the management of manufacturing operations, warehousing, and maintenance. The person in this role will be expected to guide the team and instill best practices to meet goals of production, quality, food safety, efficiencies, process compliance, and health and safety standards. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage all day-to-day operations for the facility and provide leadership that raises productivity and develops talent.
  • Provide strategic direction for the plant (i.e., capital expenditure, business planning, budget management, performance management/succession planning, culture, etc.).
  • Responsible for all operations departments, maintenance, quality assurance warehouse, and shipping while delivering against KPI’s around productivity, cost, labour, quality, yield, efficiency, reliability, safety and morale.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and related regulations with added focus on Food Safety and Audit.
  • Oversee hiring, progressive discipline, termination, performance management, talent development in partnership with HR.
  • Develop systems to evaluate, score, and implement manufacturing business system process improvements.
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement.
  • Develop equipment preventative maintenance schedules and recommend the replacement of machines.
  • Manage operational budget and actively participate in developing the Company’s projected (short & long term) growth.
  • Review and support all departmental projects for improvement to provide cost reduction, safety, customer requirements, and market growth.
  • Work closely with Finance to develop capital improvement projects and manage its successful implementation with projected ROI’s and within budget.
  • Prepare and review production plans and reports.
  • Able to lead the development and successful implementation of complex projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in management, supervision and leadership in a food manufacturing facility or similar environment is preferred.
  • University degree/college diploma in mechanical or industrial engineering or manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong inventory, supply chain, health and safety and production management knowledge and skills.
  • ERP systems (Great Plains) experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills for interactions with vendors, customers, internal departments and cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with Kaizen, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker.
  • Must be able to multi-task and operate with a sense of urgency.
  • Must have excellent conflict-resolution and decision-making abilities.
