We invite you to bring your skills and motivation into play as you support the development of our global offshore wind team. As our new Intern, you will be part of our Offshore Wind Advisory team based in Madrid.

You will take on a key role developing an External Projects Data Base. There are lots of information on how worldwide offshore wind projects have been developed, which need to be analysed in order to enhance our advisory assessments by benchmarking. You will set up a data base with information mainly coming from external and internal databases.

This role will give you a worldwide overview of the current market situation and the offshore wind farms already developed and operating around the world. Moreover, you will gain knowledge on the state of the art of different technologies and disciplines.

Your tasks and responsibilities

You will support the department with the development of an External Projects Data Base. This Data Base will discuss and give answer to the following topics:

  • Turbine used
  • General characteristics of the foundations used for WTGs and OSS
  • General characteristics of the electrical configuration
  • General information about permitting
  • Where assets were fabricated and how log did it take (incl. procurement)
  • Overview of ports involved in the construction phase
  • Duration of environmental, geotechnical campaigns and other site investigations
  • Seabed preparation works (both means and planning)
  • Which means were used for Transport & Installation and associated planning
  • Costs associated to all disciplines involved in the development of the wind farms, among others.

 

The Data Base will focus on bottom-fixed foundation wind farms since, so far, it is the solution worldwide used ; however you will also research on the precommercial floating wind farms already operating / being planned, and provide a brief insight on the main challenges associated to floating wind farms.

In order to develop the Data Base, you will have access to the internal relevant project databases, and you will approach colleagues from different disciplines and departments, in order to obtain their feedback and learn from their experience. Publicly available information will also be the basis of your study.

Furthermore, depending on the development of the Data Base, you may be asked to join and participate in other projects, supporting other experienced Consultants.

 

Your qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s student degree (ongoing) in a relevant topic area connected to engineering
  • High level of proficiency in written and spoken English; additional languages are beneficial
  • Able to work independently
  • You enjoy contacts with others and confidently engage with colleagues, with a proactive approach
  • Detailed and systematic approach towards the tasks
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Multidisciplinary approach and open to work with teams from different disciplines
