Inter IKEA is looking for a global Partnership & Engagement Leader within Sustainability

We are looking for you who are a solution-oriented team player, highly motivated to drive collaboration and engagement to enable implementation of the IKEA sustainability strategy. You have a natural interest in keeping on top of emerging sustainability trends, can make strategic topics concrete and the complex seem simple, while engaging with a wide range of people, including policymakers, NGOs, UN organizations, businesses, co-workers, and consumers. Sustainability Partnership & Engagement is a global function at Inter IKEA, contributing to the IKEA strategic sustainability agenda including establishing key strategic sustainability partnerships that support the implementation of the IKEA sustainability strategy, securing external visibility across the sustainability agenda, and project leading the IKEA sustainability reports.

The assignment of the Partnership & Engagement team includes:

  • Leading the development of common standpoints, messages and approaches related to the IKEA Sustainability Strategy and Strategic Topics, in close collaboration with the Strategic Topic function
  • Establishing, leading and developing activity-based external partnerships with NGOs and UN organisations across the sustainability topics to support the implementation of the sustainability strategy
  • Establishing and leading an NGO Advisory board and roundtables
  • Responsible for the Inter IKEA sustainability engagement plan to ensure IKEA is engaged at key events with global stakeholders, to learn and share examples from across the value chain and use our scale and influence for more positive impact
  • Leading the process of addressing sustainability related commitments, pledges, and other external initiatives across the business that IKEA is asked to support
  • Responsible for the IKEA Sustainability report, the Climate Report, other theme-based reports, and being a key collaboration partner for upcoming new reporting demands.

Job Description

In this assignment you will:

  • Contribute to developing a portfolio of sustainability partnerships across IKEA sustainability topics to support the implementation of the IKEA Sustainability strategy. Monitor and evaluate the impact of sustainability partnership, and continually improve approaches 
  • Stay up to date on emerging sustainability trends and developments including new initiatives, advocacy, and other events that IKEA may wish to support, sharing knowledge and insights with colleagues and internal stakeholders 
  • Work collaboratively with the Partnership & Engagement team and other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement the yearly plan for Inter IKEA sustainability engagement, including: 
  • Organizing stakeholder meetings, bigger events, seminars, and other outreach activities 
  • Supporting IKEA spokespersons (together with business owners, communications, and press office) with key messages and speaking points 
  • Supporting the business to further develop partnerships and integrate sustainability partnership and engagement initiatives into business processes and operations 
  • Being one of the key contacts for relevant stakeholders, partners and networking activities, cultivating, and managing relationships  
  • Develop common standpoints, messages, narratives, and strategic proof points together with Strategic Topic leaders, contributing to a holistic and interconnected approach. Focusing on external stakeholders as target audience. 
  • One leader in the team will project lead the IKEA Sustainability Report and other theme-based reports

This is a permanent position based in Älmhult, Sweden.

Qualifications

We are looking for an excellent verbal and written communicator, with passion for collaborating and making things happen through involving and engaging people, helping to make sure that IKEA shows strong leadership on sustainability topics. You enjoy analyzing large amount of complex information, identifying key information and making it accessible and easy to understand. You can adapt your leadership and communication approach when needed to maximize the value creation and you have strong stakeholder management capabilities and process management skills. You are committed to high standards in everything you do, and act and lead with sense of urgency.

To succeed in this role, we see that you have; 
A solid knowledge and interest in at least one of the sustainability topic areas, legal requirements such as reporting initiatives (ESG/CSRD) and other sustainability metrics and you are up to date with relevant trends. You have experience in planning and executing strategic sustainability projects such as engagement activities or sustainability reporting and enjoy 'rolling up your sleeves' and work closely with stakeholders to get the job done.
