Job Description

Purpose of Position:

The Director of Family Ministry will create and implement a family ministry program that offers a relevant, dynamic, environment for youth and families to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. This will include spiritual formation, fellowship, outreach, worship, and mission opportunities for youth and their families. The Director of Family Ministries will develop a youth and family ministry program that reflects our mission and values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the 6th-12th grades youth program, integrate the families of those students, and offer guidance and support to adult discipleship.
  • Equip families with resources and education to help them become actively and intentionally involved in the spiritual formation and discipleship of their families. 
  • Promote service and outreach through appropriate projects.
  • In collaboration with the Senior pastor, provide pastoral support and care for children, youth, and their families.
  • Live and model a Christ-following life above reproach.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Must have commitment to the Christian faith and Redeemer by the Sea mission and values
  • Must have strong relational skills; relating joyfully and effectively to youth, their parents, staff and church members
  • Communicate Christian values of acceptance, care, and love
  • Administer the program, including recruitment and supervision of volunteer leaders
  • Budgeting, effective planning, and clear communication
  • Climb stairs and lift approximately 35 pounds (as function of our facility and job requirements)
  • Must work well autonomously. 

Education and Experience:

  • College degree or working toward same preferred, but proven experience will also be considered
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead youth and be a team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to develop and oversee a budget
  • Strong computer and social media skills including, such as Canva, Google Workspace, Website, Constant Contact, and various Social Media Platforms. Knowledge of Google Docs, Word and Excel helpful

Additional Information

The position of Director of Family Ministry is a part-time, hourly position. The position is estimated to require 15-20 hours / week, but the actual number of hours required during any given week will vary seasonally. It is expected to be a hybrid position: preparation work can be done remotely, but this person is expected to be present most Sundays from the end of the first service to the end of the second and also for any other youth gatherings and special events. *

Position Reports To: Pastor

Salary: $25-35/hour (commensurate with experience and competency)
