To create a better everyday for the many, reaching new consumer groups and meeting the IKEA ambitions when it comes to both sustainability and low cost, we put focus on our development and innovation agenda. Based on insights and guided by the IKEA Range & Communication strategy, Development & Innovation explores and evaluates future opportunities, develop new business capabilities and create new product range innovations. 

We are now looking for Product Design Developers for the newly established Development & Innovation organization in CBR  As a Product Design Developer, you will lead range and product development as a part of the Innovation development team. One key capability in this work is creative and innovative people who are happy to say “I do not know (yet) - but let’s figure it out together! Your daily work is to explore possible solutions to problems with many un-known parameters in areas that are new to IKEA – and together with the team develop ideas into tested and verified concepts and products. 

In an Innovation development team, the boundaries between different roles are less strict. We want you to contribute from your strengths and be willing to stretch and learn in new areas needed to solve problems and move forward in your projects. This means that you may need to wear different hats at certain times and work together with and through colleagues across the business to find better ways of doing things.   
You will report to a Range Innovation Manager. Together, we turn new opportunities into value for the many - and by that challenge ourselves and create growing business for IKEA. 

For the job as a Product Design Developer in Development & Innovation, you have: 

  • Strong ability to create and drive business growth through projects and products with low prices for the many people  
  • Strong capability to translate market/consumer insights and well as business development priorities into new concepts and products 
  • Strong creative mind, balancing cost and design, utilizing and developing our 3D capabilities for visualization and decision making 
  • Being able to take decisions for creating new value, based on conceptual ideas 
  • Analytical capabilities being close to reality and our cost drivers 
  • Great networking capabilities, managing large quantity of information across the network - both internal and external 
  • Ability to lead business through people with value-based leadership, contributing to the team taking decisions and moving the creative process forward together 
  •  Balancing all relevant input for optimal Democratic Design and to strengthen the IKEA identity  
  • Capability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously   
  • Good knowledge of sustainability and circularity, passionate to create products that are good for the nature and our world    

This is a permanent role based in Älmhult. 
The Product Design Developer is crucial for developing our business, and we believe that your presence with the team and working a majority of the time in the workplace is important.
