Job Description

The National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance) is the nation’s public-private partnership for suicide prevention, based at EDC. The Action Alliance brings together senior executives from government, business, and the non-profit sector to champion suicide prevention as a national priority and advance implementation of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention through collaboration and innovation.

The Assistant Director of Communications has an opportunity to advance cause-oriented efforts, working with a passion-filled team, which includes working alongside some of the nation’s most influential leaders. This new position provides an exciting chance for a dedicated and talented communications professional to learn, contribute, and lead.

You will:

  • Inform and lead a national, mission-filled, multi-channel communications strategy
  • Liaise with some of the nation’s most esteemed and influential public and private sector leaders
  • Lead efforts in growing and advancing the Action Alliance’s national footprint
  • Identify and implement innovative and exciting digital and communications strategies
  • Be part in growing and strengthening the way the nation talks about and views suicide prevention
  • Generates creative content and identifying unique ways to disseminate it to our audience(s) that helps to meet our organizational goals

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training & experience in a related field
  • Master’s degree or equivalent combination of training & experience preferred

Other skills/experience:

  • Strong written and communications skills
  • Interest and expertise in the field of communications, marketing and/or public health
  • A motivated self-starter with a confidence and curiosity to take initiative  
  • Keen excitement to work in a fast-paced and yet team-oriented environment
  • Strong project manager with exceptional eye for detail
  • Innovative and creative thinker willing to contribute to and lead project plans and multi-pronged communication strategies

Preferred education and skills/experience:

  • Background in or experience with strategic communications, marketing, media and/or public health
  • Experience leading media relations, digital, and marketing strategies and tracking metrics and progress
  • Experience and confidence working with senior level leaders and/or building consensus
  • Experience in supervising, leading, and providing mentorship to junior members of a team
  • Experience in project management and keen sense of attention to detail
  • Experience in storytelling and expertise in writing for various platforms and channels

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $66,000 to $90,000. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
