The Burton Academy is an alternative provision for learners aged 11 to 16 years old, whose needs cannot be met within a mainstream environment. The academy provides placements for young people in Torbay who exhibit social, emotional, and behavioural concerns. We enable our learners to build their confidence, overcome barriers to learning, and progress to the next step in their lives.

Our high-quality, professional staff bring out the best in all learners, through a personalised approach, enabling them to achieve beyond their expectations. Job Description

About the role

We are seeking to appoint a passionate, inspiring and dedicated teacher to teach Key Stage 3 and 4 and become part of a forward thinking alternative provision. We are looking to expand our curriculum, so applicants from all specialisms are welcomed (including primary trained teachers). Experience or interest in teaching English and maths at KS3 is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Hold QTS status (or be on a pathway to become qualified).

Experience and Knowledge

  • Planning, implementing, assessing, and evaluating aspirational lessons, for success at GCSE (or other accredited pathway).
  • Have passion and resilience, with a commitment to support children and young people with challenging behaviours.

Salary: £28,000 - £43,685, depending upon qualifications and experience (MAT Teacher pay range)
