Job Description

Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our Office of Research Strategy and Integrity as a Clinical Services Veterinarian at the University. This role is part of the expanded veterinary team working to ensure a high standard of animal health and welfare and contribute to vital research work on improving the health and well-being of humans, animals and the environment.

The CSV role encompasses the provision of clinical care, helping educate University staff and students to enable robust animal care and research, assisting with compliance work for animal ethics approvals and more. Additionally, there will be opportunities to contribute to research into the 3Rs of Replacement, Reduction and Refinement.

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent position. The salary range is $100,000 - $120,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

He kōrero mōu | About you

Our ideal candidate is a New Zealand Registered (or registerable) Veterinarian with at least five years of experience working in a clinical veterinary capacity, preferably with experience in lab animal medicine or the care of rodents, rabbits and sheep. An interest in anaesthesia and surgery are a plus. Additionally, excellent communication skills, an educative mindset, and ability to work with a diverse range of people is necessary.
