Job Description

The Verisk Cloud FinOps team is look for a Cloud FinOps - Sr. Engineer to support and augment its mature Cloud FinOps service. Position is responsible for support and admin of RedShift, PowerBI, and Athena which house our cost transparency data, as well as presenting cloud spend and cloud cost optimization recommendations. Looking for a collaborative team member that is able to educate and learn in both finance and cloud.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze cloud costs across the Verisk Enterprise and recommend ways to optimize spend
  • Strong problem solving skills used to identify cost savings where there are complex trade-offs
  • Expose cloud cost transparency in new ways
  • Strong communication and leadership skills used to effectively present opportunities for cost optimization
  • Ability to prioritize recommendations that make the biggest financial impact
  • Leverage PowerBI and write Athena SQL to prepare ad-hoc analysis of the AWS Cost and Usage Report (CUR)
  • Support Redshift node
  • Present cloud finances to business unit leadership regularly
  • Interpret Densify rightsizing recommendations and support Densify project
  • Implement Densify rightsizing as part of the CI/CD pipeline
  • Purchase Savings Plans and Reserved Instances as warranted after collaboration with Business Units
  • Drive change in DevOps habits to consider cost as a dimension of application architecture design

Location:

Position is based in Jersey City, NJ and leverages a hybrid model of required in-office time (currently 2 days in-office weekly but subject to change) and WFH

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
  • AWS Cloud Certification preferred
  • FinOps Certification a plus
  • Redshift, PowerBI and Athena SQL skills required
