Job Description

About the role

Joining Furbnow as a Software Engineer is an incredible opportunity to put your skills into practice to make a difference to the climate crisis, helping us scale up retrofits of Britain’s housing stock. You’ll work closely with the CTO to build out the infrastructure that powers the business.

✔️ What your new job will be: 

Web

  • Full stack responsibilities for creating and managing our application
  • Designing, developing and maintaining a performant and scalable platform to power Furbnow’s business
  • Creating a user-facing application with Python, Django, HTMX and React/Typescript that will delight our users
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests
  • Develop our roadmap, test features and come up with ideas for improvements

Devops

  • Deploying and monitoring our services

Data and databases

  • Oversee a managed Postgres instance and ensure our data model is robust
  • Managing our backend API
  • Manage migrations and iterate quickly while ensuring our data is secure
  • Design pipelines to ingest and manage structured and unstructured data from our suppliers and customers

Product

  • Working with the team to develop the product roadmap

Qualifications

🎯 About You

Must-have:

  • Python experience
  • Full stack web development experience and knowledge to create, deploy and maintain an application in the cloud - git, cloud services, databases
  • Good understanding of software design principles and patterns
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

  • Javascript experience, and familiarity with Typescript
  • Familiarity with React or other front-end frameworks
  • Experience with TailwindCSS or component libraries 
  • Familiarity with Postgres
  • Docker or other container technologies
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques (vision, text)
