Our Graduate Development Programme  

Our 24-month Graduate Development Programme (GDP) provides you with a structured learning environment to help you become a well-rounded consultant and accelerate your career.

The GDP starts with a formal induction, giving you the opportunity to start building your internal networks and deepen your understanding of Turner & Townsend and your service area.

On joining you will be provided with a structured development plan which introduces you to the key business, technical and commercial competencies graduates need to succeed at Turner & Townsend. This gives you the necessary tools to manage and monitor your personal and professional development and progress. Throughout the programme you will be partnered with a Graduate Development Manager who will provide support and guidance to ensure you are on track.

As well as ‘on-the-job' learning, you will benefit from technical and behavioural training, providing you with the knowledge and skills to support you in your personal development. Alongside this you will be given the opportunity to pursue professional qualifications with organisations such as RICS, APM, CMI, IMEA, ICE and CIOB (depending on your technical discipline).

The GDP provides:

  • A platform to enhance knowledge and gain first-hand experience; 
  • A plan to support and capture your learning and development needs and achievements; and,  
  • The tools to track and report your personal development. 

Job Description

We’re recruiting graduates to join our Contract Services team that specialise in Intelligent Procurement, Project Advisory and Dispute Resolution; supporting our world-renowned public and private sector clients to create bespoke procurement, contract, and dispute avoidance strategies on major programmes both in the UK and internationally.

Over this 2-year programme, we offer a tailored training path that will help develop your skills, build your confidence, knowledge and experience.

We’re passionate about your development and this sits at the forefront of the Graduate Programme. You’ll receive a range of training to develop your skills in stakeholder management and leadership, as well as structured competencies to support your development in the delivery of our services in Intelligent Procurement, Project advisory and Dispute resolution. You will also have the opportunity to attain a professional CIPS qualification as part of the programme.

Previous Contract Services graduates have helped source and procure billions of pounds worth of work and services and have assisted with the resolution of multi-million-pound claims and disputes in the UK and overseas.

Our services are further described below:

Intelligent Procurement  

Our Intelligent Procurement team operates at the front end of the project lifecycle, collaborating with our global clients to deliver business and commercial strategies, procurement and supply chain strategies, deep-dive market engagement, and first-class procurement execution. You’ll form part of our experienced team to help our clients maximise value from the supply chain, mitigate contractual risk, conquer sustainability goals, and harness innovative procurement practices.

Commercial 

Our commercial team operate within our wider Intelligent Procurement offering. Working alongside subject matter experts you will collaborate closely with our clients from the very outset of project definition to facilitate a clear understanding of a client’s critical commercial success factors and their appetite for risk. Once these have been established, you will support our commercial team to develop and implement appropriate pricing strategies, innovative incentivisation models linked to financial rewards and tools for effective contract administration mindful of client objectives, risk profile and the third-party relationships needed for successful execution of the project.  

Contract Drafting 

Our contract drafting team are critical to the success of a project, ensuring that the contract is drafted to meet the client’s requirements concisely and clearly. They are required to engage with several stakeholders from clients and lawyers, as well as the wider procurement and commercial teams, to include drafting that reflects the client’s procurement and commercial strategy. As the cornerstone of a project, the contract is a key document that all parties refer to and seek direction from throughout a project.

Project Advisory  

Our project advisory team forms part of the contract services division who provide a full spectrum support service. Project advisory encompasses assessing project performance and implementing effective measures to improve certainty of business outcomes and contract management procedures. We aim to build resilience for our clients by strategically aligning their programme and procurement requirements and provide a best practice approach to contract and commercial management.

Working across the entirety of the project lifecycle our services here could include support in choosing the right contract, mitigating contractual risk, advising on projects in distress and providing expert services should disputes occur.

Claims & Disputes 

Our claims & disputes team provides flexible and innovative solutions, based on proven best practice, to support clients in any claim or dispute. Our team provides strategic advice to clients, informing them of the rights they may have under a contract and the likelihood of success in the event of a formal dispute. Our team will assist clients in formal dispute proceedings, drafting specialist reports and acting as expert witnesses.

Working with our claims & disputes team will involve providing contractual support, specialist project advisory services on quantum and/or delay issues and helping produce expert witness reports to a varied range of clients both in the UK and Internationally.

Qualifications

  • 2:1 or above in your undergraduate degree.
  • 2:2 or above in undergraduate degree if you hold a RICS accredited Masters or construction related masters.
  • Right to live and work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship).

In some regional roles being able to drive will be necessary due to the location of client offices.  Please also note this is not a remote role as we operate a hybrid working approach you will need to be willing and able to work in a Turner & Townsend office or a client site. 

To be considered for roles in the Defence arena you will need to pass both a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check and UKSV SC clearance – this process will initiated once you have accepted an offer and have indicated you are happy to go through these checks.  A summary of the checks involved can be found here.
