Job Description

KemperLesnik (KL) is seeking a PR account executive for our professional services group. This role will work mostly with clients in risk management (insurance and Insurtech), financial services, consulting, and B2B products industries, and will support other teams as needed.

As a member of KL’s professional services team, you will be a storyteller and strategist for our clients’ brands. Whether a client is launching a new technology initiative or facing a leadership challenge, you’ll help create narratives to meet business objectives. You’ll learn what makes your clients’ services or products shine, pay attention to trending news, leverage market data and tap clients’ subject matter experts for insights on pressing ethical and economic concerns - whether climate change, inflation, or cybersecurity.

Your efforts will help your team develop messages and story ideas, identify the best reporters and influencers, draft compelling pitches and social posts, and follow through on earned media opportunities, speaking and award opportunities, and social media engagement. Your work will deliver results that showcase a client’s value to its customers, prospects and investors, among other key stakeholders.

Qualifications

General responsibilities:

  • Drafting and editing news releases, fact sheets, bios, bylined articles, case studies, blogs, social media posts, abstracts, and award nominations.
  • Keeping daily tabs on general business and industry news.
  • Building and updating targeted media lists for sharing news and pitches.
  • Distributing news releases, monitoring for coverage and reporting on pick up.
  • Speaking with clients to develop key messages and story ideas, and providing updates on client calls.
  • Securing client media coverage via email and phone pitching; scheduling client interviews.
  • Creating media briefs, participating in media trainings and actively listening in on or facilitating interviews and media tours.
  • Monitoring the media for client coverage; effectively tracking and reporting that coverage.
  • Managing social media accounts – posting, monitoring, engaging, measuring success.
  • Contributing ideas for client campaigns and strategies.
  • Preparing meeting agendas and status reports on media results; scheduling team meetings.
  • Identifying and vetting speaking and award opportunities.
  • Maintaining individual timesheets.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities.
  • Joining internal marketing and/or volunteer committees.

Desired qualifications and skills:

  • Must have 2+years, Full-Time, of PR agency or journalism experience, with proven earned media and social media success.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or PR, or a major heavily focused on writing, research and critical thinking.
  • Love for reading the news, story ideation, creating news hooks and pitching stories to media.
  • Excellent writer with knowledge of AP Style and experience drafting news releases, bylined articles, case studies, blogs, etc.
  • Experience communicating directly with clients, both written and verbal.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and navigating social media monitoring platforms.
  • Proven project management, organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience using LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Sprout Social or equivalent social media management platform, and Cision suite.
  • Self-starter with pride in work ownership, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and a growth mindset.
