Nazarbayev University School of Medicine, established in 2015, is being developed in partnership with the University Of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and offers a US-style curriculum taught in English. NUSOM’s mission is to educate a new generation of clinically skilled and research-focused physicians prepared for leadership positions in research, education, and clinical care to improve the health of individuals in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and around the world.

Job Description

1) providing a technical support for all simulation operations in the Simulation Center of the School (hereinafter – Center) including preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikins and other simulation equipment;

2) training and monitoring of the correct use of the equipment of the Center by faculty and students of the School;

3) conducting regular check-up and supervision of the equipment performance as well as correct operation of the hardware and software system of the Center;

4) development of the schedule of teaching sessions and organization of the sessions in the Center;

5) provision of the administrative and logistic support to the faculty of the School;

6) administration of information and audio/video systems of the Center and the School in general;

7) defining the needs of the Center and preparing of the technical documentation for further procurement of the equipment and consumables to maintain the operation of the Center;

8) organization of the facility tours for guests as well as applicants to academic and professional programs of the School during marketing campaigns conducted in the School;

9) drafting correspondence in the range of his/her functional duties;

10) making suggestions on operational improvement of the Center;

11)  development of the standard operating procedures for the use of the simulation equipment, professional behavior and safety rules in the Center for students, faculty and guests of the Center;

12)  assistance in logistic support of the Standardized Patients Program: keeping a record of standardized patients, collection and preparation of the documents to ensure the payment of their services;

13)  participation in identification, evaluation, management and monitoring of risks within the framework of supervised area.

 

Qualifications

Work experience must meet one of the following requirements:

- with a bachelor's degree: at least 1 year in areas corresponding to the functional areas of a specific position ; or

- with a master's degree in the areas relevant to functional duties of the given position work experience is not required.

Degree in the following fields is preferable:

-    Engineering;

-   Technology;

-   Public Health;

-   Biomedical Sciences;

-   Medicine;

-  Computer Sciences;

-  Information technologies;

-  Management.

Professional knowledge and personal skills:

-   knowledge of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the sphere of education;

-   knowledge of safety basics during the work on laboratory equipment;

-   experience in simulation equipment;

-   experience in audio/video hardware and software;

-    knowledge and experience in procurement of equipment and consumables;

   fluency in Kazakh, Russian, English (oral and writing skills);

-    knowledge of MS Office;

-    communication skills;

-    responsibility;

-    ability to work individually and in a team;

-    ability to achieve the target within given time;

-    stress resistance;

-    ability to work with representatives of different cultures and nationalities.
