Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of Auckland invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in the area of Construction Engineering and Management. Applications are welcome in the general area of Construction Engineering and Management, but preference may be given to candidates with experience in at least one of the following: Construction health and safety, Contract management, Cost engineering/Quantity surveying, Construction processes and logistics, Construction site and project Management, and Management of mega projects/complex project systems. It is expected that the candidate to the position have excellent and demonstrable track records not only in research but teaching at the corresponding academic level.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is the largest departments in the Faculty of Engineering, with approximately 50 academic staff, 1,000 undergraduates and over 150 postgraduate students. We provide BE (Hons) degree programme in Civil and Environmental Engineering, together with a range of postgraduate taught courses and research based degrees at masters and doctoral levels.

The Department has an established strong reputation in the traditional fields of the discipline, being ranked 40th in the World according to the QS World Ranking 2022. The Department is also committed to promoting equality and diversity.

The appointee will work as part of the Construction Engineering and Management Group in the Department and will be required to develop research collaborations with researchers both within and outside that Group.

The appointee will be research-focussed and be required to undertake high quality research, researcher supervision and teaching in their area of specialisation. They will be committed to the development and delivery of high quality curricula and courses and have excellent communication skills. They will also contribute to the wider activities of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and perform service roles for the department, faculty or university.

This is a permanent, full time, 40 hours per week role. The salary range for this role is $86,979 to $144,526 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area. Additional industrial experience is desirable. They will also have a demonstrated ability to conduct research, supervise postgraduate students, publish in high quality journals, obtain research/industry funds, and engage with industry and the wider community.
