We are looking for a Cost Accountant to help us implement innovative performance measures and help our team keep our financial compliance activities running! Join us to promote connectivity!

MDC Cost Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of Financial statements Reporting, Valuation, and Controls. Performs analysis of financial data and prepares reports for management use on various topics impacting the company's performance. In addition, reporting and analyzing pricing/costing variances and supportting Production Operations and Program Management. Will perform critical roles in month-end closes and reporting utilizing advanced financial Excel, as well as applying accounting principles in theory and practice, which contribute to timely and accurate financial data.

What would you be doing?

  • Complete assigned Daily, Weekly, Month-end, Quarter-end, and Year-end Processing and tasks encompassing a variety of financial functions in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Participate in aspects of the forecasting process.

  • Audit participation as assigned.

  • Capital Project Request analysis & initiation/tracking of capital requests.

  • Review and analysis of financial data and preparation of analysis for decision support & ensure GAAP compliance.

  • Compile and maintain measurements of effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Fixed Asset processing & Cycle Count process compliance.

  • Interface with various functional areas such as Program Management, Purchasing, Operations, Build team to enhance the understanding of financial data.

  • Costing, Inventory, Forecasting, Budgeting.

  • Account reconciliations as assigned.

  • Perform tasks regarding profitability, ROIC by Product Hierarchy & cost related tasks resulting in reviews and sharing of financial results with business personnel.

  • Coordinate & participate in Continuous Improvements & team projects.

  • Support and cross-train other financial functions.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree in accounting, finance, engineering, economics, businesses, or other areas with an emphasis on mathematical and logic proficiency.

  • Desirable MBA with a focus on finance.

Technical skills and work experience

  • Bilingual – English and Spanish required.

  • 2-3 years of previous accounting, bookkeeping, and administrative duties 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and Advanced Excel.

  • Comfortable with software tools such as Asana, Slack, Google Workspaces.

  • Experience working with a NetSuite system environment and Quickbooks is a plus.

  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment, IT company, or telecommunications company is a plus.

  • Ability to independently develop comprehensive reports and spreadsheets demonstrating appropriate logic and understanding of advanced financial concepts.

  • Advanced knowledge and application of accounting principles demonstrated by experience with financial reporting and analysis.

  • Ability to analyze data, research errors, understand the related financial impacts and formulate the required corrective actions.

  • Ability to coordinate and drive projects to closure

  • Ability to manage time and juggle multiple priorities to execute high-quality deliverables.

  • Ability to independently develop comprehensive reports and spreadsheets demonstrating appropriate logic and understanding of advanced financial concepts.
