Job Description

PurpleLab is looking for an experienced hands on Senior Data Engineer. This position combines database design and analytical tasks to establish standards, metadata and data management strategies, quality standards to deliver data warehousing solutions for diverse business intelligence capabilities and ad-hoc analysis. These are the role functions in detail:

  • Analyze, design, and implement effective database solutions for large (TBs) complex Real-World Evidence (RWE) datasets.

  • Document organizational data assets and diagram the proposed solutions to present to project stakeholders.

  • Research and evaluate data and information sources to determine their strengths and limitations. 

  • Design and implement solutions to ingest and integrate data from various heterogeneous data.

  • Ensure data quality throughout all stages of data acquisition and processing, including data, collection, transformation, and presentation.

  • Conduct un-supervised research on various healthcare topics from therapeutic areas to medications to industry classification systems, as necessary.

  • Support Sales and Production teams as required.

  • Work with non-technical personnel and assist in understanding company data assets and their usability.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of life science or pharmaceutical industry experience in database management and development using any SQL dialect (commercial or academic setting).

  • Hands-on experience with healthcare data such as pharmacy and medical claims, EMR/EHR, clinical lab data, or others. Knowledge of industry-wide classification systems like ICD, CPT, NDC, etc.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of data warehousing, business intelligence, and hands-on experience in data management life cycle.

  • Experience in developing and presenting analyses of complex datasets.

  • Good communication skills and ability to translate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.

  • Able to work autonomously and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • BS (or higher) Degree in Computer Science or related fields.
