Job Description

Your New Role

Gibbs & Cox Australia have an opportunity for an intern to support our Maritime Autonomy program. As an intern at GCA you will support the development of our Environmentally-Powered Modular Autonomous Platform System (EMAPS) product family. EMAPS is a family of medium-speed electric autonomous surface vessels, developed to execute a wide range of operator-defined missions while using solar and wind-hydro-regeneration to provide long-range transit and multi-week persistent missions.

In this role you will have an opportunity to perform definitive creative engineering work on an important developmental platform. You should expect to operate in a fast-paced engineering environment with short deadlines to achieve aggressive development schedule objectives.

Qualifications:

Currently completing a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture or Marine and Offshore Engineering (In your 2nd or 3rd year of study)

·        Rhinoceros software experience

·        Maxsurf suite experience

o   Seakeeping

o   Resistance

o   Hydrostatics

·        Structural analysis

·        CFD

·        Concept analysis for launching and recovery of deployables, such as small Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV’S)

·        Sail control logic

·        Power management and optimisation logic

·        Modular payload package design and development
