Program Director - The Center for Digital Equity (3 positions)

Job Description

Summary: The Program Director is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that provides program and project management for The Center for Digital Equity (CDE) at Queens University of Charlotte and its Community Council workstreams. The Program Director (PD) is responsible, at the direction of the Deputy Director, for leading all aspects of assigned workstreams, including serving as lead project manager on workstream developing, supporting and executing strategies of the CDE and its Community Council. This role establishes and maintains an active, visible, and engaged presence to sustain and grow strong collaborative relationships with the community council, community partners, and internal stakeholders. This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay for hours worked above 40 in a single work week. The salary range for this position is $60-$65k.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

Program/Project Management
•    Work with local agencies, nonprofits, corporate entities, and campus departments, under the auspices of the Deputy Director, to support digital inclusion, awareness, programming, and planning efforts
•    Conduct effective planning, organizing, resourcing and executing of large and small programs/projects through to completion (e.g., this could involve ordering computers through a vendor and following through the completed delivery of laptops to Queens, and supervising work study students as they prepare the laptops for each workshop)
•    Analyze and resolve problems and implement efficient solutions and exercise sound judgment and discretion with sensitive, difficult, or confidential material and situations

Leadership
•    Analyze and troubleshoot Center for Digital Equity program/project components to arrive at a logical course of action while knowing when to seek support or assistance
•    Work with Deputy Director to learn about opportunities for awareness and advocacy, and commit to ongoing learning about issues related to digital inclusion

Community Engagement
•    Engage various constituencies across differences of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, and ability backgrounds
•    Build rapport, manage relationships at various organizational levels, and exercise tact/diplomacy when working with internal community members, as well as exercise cultural competence with internal and external community members
•    Co-lead all aspects of community engagement events including marketing, staffing and overall logistics. 
•    Craft and share stories about programmatic efforts, internally and externally
•    Collaborate with community and campus partners to connect with and invite Queens University students’ meaningful involvement in The Center for Digital Equity’s programmatic efforts

Non-Essential Duties: Other duties may be assigned as needed to achieve department and university goals.

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required
•    At least three to five (3-5) years’ program management experience, project management and/or nonprofit management
•    1-3 years’ experience in nonprofit or educational leadership, program development, and/or training
•    Demonstrated background in engaging various constituencies across differences of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, and ability backgrounds
•    Advanced business software skills (primarily Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Slack, SharePoint, etc., and the ability to quickly learn university specific software)
•    Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and experience interacting with multiple constituencies (faculty, staff, community partners)
•    Demonstrated skill at organization and follow-up / follow-through to ensure program/project objectives are met within established timeframes, and program evaluation/assessment is conducted appropriately
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills to craft and share stories about programmatic efforts, internally and externally
•    Well-developed attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness to effectively prioritize assignments and competing demands to meet given deadlines and program objectives
•    Possess high levels of professional acumen, judgment, and leadership to serve in a variety of capacities, as needed, in the absence of Deputy Director and/or Executive Director 
•    Work effectively independently and as a member of a team
•    Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in experience and education, Master’s Degree preferred
