We are a Pre-K through 12th grade school located in the historical 18th and Vine District. KIPP KC opened its first school, KIPP Endeavor Academy, in 2007 with approximately 31 fifth grade students. Today, KIPP Kansas City has grown to serve students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade and is currently educating approximately 1,000 students.

Job Description

This position is responsible for cultivating positive and productive relationships with stakeholders to ensure a steady supply of quality Real World Learning (RWL) experiences for students and staff. This position is expected to assist teachers and students with career pathways and implementing career exposure opportunities for high school students. The RWLM will facilitate career pathways initiatives and assist in the promotion and execution of school-wide career driven programming with an inclusive and equitable lens. This position is also responsible for the implementation and teaching of  CKCS standards.

Knowledge

● Monitor changes and trends within the local Labor Market to identify high priority careers in the region

● Understand the three-year RWL strategic plan for the HS to ensure all students graduate with a Market Value Asset (MVA) 

● Be knowledgeable to advise and coach all students, including all postsecondary pathways and students with unique circumstances through the postsecondary planning 

Instruction 

  • Teach College Knowledge & Career Success (CKCS) curriculum once a week

  • Maintain an updated gradebook and classroom expectations in accordance with school policy

  • Utilize various student management platforms to track, progress monitor and submit student data, including, but not limited to YouScience, Overgrad, Google, KIPP Foundation approved tools, etc

Data Management

●         Lead school progress monitoring efforts of career integration and readiness indicators

●          Collects input and reports on school data needs related to MVA collections and career pathway activities for the purpose of ensuring the relevance of the program 

●         Maintain constant and consistent communication on the data progress of students with key stakeholders including: KIPP Foundation, KIPP Forward, High School and regional leadership, along with students and families

Relationship Development

●         Support a cohort of high school students at KIPP High Schools on career pathways, such as college, CTE, and military pathways

●         Lead training and workshops for students on the soft skills necessary to be successful in the work environment

  •  Support KIPP Forward and High School special programming including college campus visits, college and career fairs, career knowledge workshops

Professional Development

● Participate in and effectively prepare for weekly one-on-one check-ins with your Manager

  • Attend Monthly KIPP Foundation community calls

  • Attend occasionally trainings, regionally and nationally, to stay current on changes in the industry

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

●        Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.

●        Minimum five years of industry related experience.

●        Experience with classroom teaching, sales, business development, and relationship management preferred.

●        Knowledge of acceptable career and technical education practices and principles.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

●        Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.

●        Able to manage complex relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

●        Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

●        Bilingual or fluent in Spanish preferred, but not required.

●        A current driver license.

●        A willingness to complete the Missouri Class E license exam.

●        Demonstrated ability in implementing long-range and short-term plans.

●        High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality.

●        Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing information and data.

●        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

●        Highly collaborative team player.

●        Proficiency with software, such as Word, Google, Salesforce, Outlook, etc.

●        Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Additionally, KIPP KC offers a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage and retirement.
