Job Description

Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) is a flagship hospital in the Northwestern Medicine (NM) hospital system and is affiliated with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, NMH has been consistently ranked 10th in the USA for 10 years in a row and its cancer program was ranked 6th this year by the U.S. News & World Report.

We are looking for academic clinical physicists to be involved in day-to-day clinical services in the department of Radiation Oncology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. Faculty appointment at Northwestern University Fienberg School of Medicine and appropriate rank (Assistant/Associate Professor) could be provided based on academic strength. The department currently includes 10 medical physicists, 8 dosimetrists; treats 120+ patients a day; and provides extensive external beam treatment (5 Linac’s) with imaging modalities (OBI, CBCT, MRI), including SBRT, SRT, 3DCRT, TBI, TSET, IMRT/VMAT, Gamma Knife, Hyperthermia, LDR and HDR Brachytherapy as well as a MRIdian ViewRay MR-Linac.

This position is specifically intended for a clinical medical physicist with 1-7 years of experience with ABR certification completed or in progress. An ideal candidate will be board certified with a PhD in medical physics and have strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a large team.

Candidates are encouraged to participate in various aspects of clinical research as well as teaching programs including mentoring therapy students, residents (MD and medical physics).

Qualifications

  • MS or doctoral degree (PhD) in medical physics with ABR certification or certification in progress.
  • Completion of Medical Physics Residency with 3-5 years clinical experience preferred.
  • Research and teaching expertise are desired
