Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and innovative Graphic Designer to join our busy Digital Engagement and Communications team within Libraries and Learning Services | Te Tumu Herenga. The role requires someone with attention to detail, accuracy, strong layout skills and a sound understanding of design and brand fundamentals.

You will have the ability to apply this knowledge to a wide variety of print and digital media as you will be responsible for the production of a range of promotional artwork for both print and digital, including brochures, advertising, prospectuses, flyers, posters and signage for the University Libraries and Student Hubs. While your work will be informed by the University brand guidelines, you are also encouraged to show creative initiative where possible.

This is a permanent, full time 37.5 hours per week role. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $74,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

We are looking for a team member who enjoys working with people, wants to be part of a dynamic team, is a self-starter, organised, has excellent communication and digital skills and can work with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You will be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, juggling multiple priorities with ease, and delivering high-quality work consistently, on time. You will also need to be a whiz at Adobe Creative Suite (bonus points if you have photography and video editing skills or have a keen interest in this area).

 

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

  • A sound understanding of design and brand principles and application, with the ability to apply your knowledge to a wide variety of materials
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships within the team, across the organisation and with external suppliers
  • With your naturally empathetic and resilient nature, you’ll be able to stay positive even when the pressure may be on
  • The ability to demonstrate your own creative flair where appropriate, with strong creativity and a passion for engaging design
  • You will be a confident PC user, proficient in using the Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
  • A tertiary qualification in graphic design, with at least 3 years of professional experience is required to be successful in this role
