Job Description

The Maker’s Lab Studio located in Miami, FL, is seeking a highly creative and versatile Sr. VFX/Finishing Artist. The ideal candidate must have experience in all facets of Finishing, Motion Graphics, Compositing, VFX Supervision (3D/CGI and Color Correction is a plus).  They should be familiar with the standard industry post production finishing workflow for TV commercials.

The candidate needs to work well with a creative team and feel comfortable taking the creative lead or working unsupervised. Needs to manage deadlines and have strong communications skills.

We are seeking someone with the talent and personality to lead but also complement our current team.  Someone who enjoys using their skills to manage personnel and is comfortable collaborating directly with clients. Finally, should be comfortable working in a fast paced and sometimes high-pressure environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

            •     Manage finishing such as conform, VFX (clean-up, compositing, rotoscoping), and/or color correction. Exporting final deliverables to spec.

• Produce animated graphics ranging from lower thirds, logos, and bumpers to full productions.

•  Work closely with Sr. Producers and agency creatives to determine best approach to solve VFX challenges and execute final look.

•   Ability to take technically challenging shots from start to finish.

•  Accurately interpret art direction and asset designs from the agency creative team.

•  Use and understanding of 2D applications and finishing software and general knowledge of other common software.

•  Modify/Rework existing motion graphics assets.

•  Creatively collaborate with clients and team members.

• Proactive and with the ability to manage several projects meeting urgent deadlines.

•  Working with offline edit team and prepping initial conforms as needed.

• Organizing media for archiving.

• Supporting the Production team with bidding inquiries.

• QC and Mastering.

• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Qualifications

•  BA in Graphic Design, Animation, Film or a related field is preferred.

•  5+ years of experience creating and animating final broadcast deliverables.

•  In-depth knowledge of VFX techniques, workflows, and methodologies

•  History of telling compelling stories through unique creative assets and visual interactions.

•  Must have a reel or portfolio of work to demonstrate skills and abilities.

•  Strong foundational knowledge of 2-D / 3-D, Maya, 3D Maya, LightWave, Soft Image and Cinema 4D, CGI, Flash, FreeHand.

•  Expert knowledge of After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere.

•  Able to work with After Effects templates and create custom graphics.

•  Excellent communication skills with both clients and fellow coworkers.  

•  Knowledge of file formats and compression specifications

•  Knowledge of bluescreen and greenscreen extraction techniques

•  Knowledge of cleanup, beauty work, and element integration.

•  Comfortable leading a session with clients.

•   Color grading and CGI/3D is a plus.

•  Working knowledge Autodesk Flame, Nuke and tracking programs like PFTrack, and Mocha.
