Job Description

ABOUT THIS POSITION:

The potential applicant for this role will serve as the Company's one of the principal lawyers for internal risk mitigation and oversight. The candidate will identify potential areas of legal risk or vulnerability within internal operations and provide guidance regarding the best method of mitigating or eliminating such risk; analyze information that often is ambiguous and provide expert-level recommendations to the Board of Directors and other members of the Executive Leadership Team as requested.

The role will also provide oversight on extremely sensitive legal matters, including, but not limited to compliance; professional liability; administrative law; and other legal areas related to internal risk mitigation.  As required, and as directed, by the Board of Directors, the candidate will establish program emphasis, develop operating policies and guidelines, and communicate policies and priorities. In furtherance of these functions, s/he will determine and implement internal organization policies, practices, training needs, and improvements in work processes and procedures.

Job description/responsibilities:

We are looking for young enthusiastic individuals who are passionate and very serious about the legal and compliance aspect of a company. If you have the ability to learn and adapt quickly then this is the right place for you. During your day to day activities then you will,

  • monitor a company’s legal affairs, ensuring that they maintain compliance with all laws and regulations concerning their field;

  • coordinate and arrange internal meetings related to legal matters. Coordinate with other departments (e.g. Business, Accounts & Finance, HR) regarding legal matters. Develop and maintain close working relationships with internal and external contacts as appropriate;

  • prepare legal documents/agreements/contracts and complete necessary arrangements;

  • participate in developing, implementing, and updating office policies and procedures;

  • continuously research legal resources such as articles, codes, statutes, judicial decisions, and more in order to stay up to date on all current laws and make well-educated legal recommendations;

  • provide legal advice to the departments to identify risks when defining the contractual obligations and advise on the course of action for pre-lawsuit or amicable settlement negotiation;

  • establish and maintain close working relationships with external law firms and lawyers.

  • conduct external legal meetings with partners/clients for negotiating contract terms etc;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Law or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; 

  • Barristers are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given preference;

  • 3 years of direct experience with preparing contracts, agreements, documentation;

  • Strong knowledge of IPR, Copyrights, Trademarks;

  • Skilled in legal analysis, critical thinking, legal counseling, and problem-solving;

  • Great attention to detail along with the ability to work with different personalities;

  • Strong knowledge and kept up to date on the global tech industry, particularly in FinTech;

  • Knowledge of international laws will be added as an advantage;

  • Knowledge of drafting and vetting SLA agreements will be added as an advantage;

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skill in English;
