About the job

The Intelligence Automation Centre of Excellence has the assignment to create value by providing automation solutions and simplify the life of our IKEA co-worker, working hand in hand with the business and product teams.  

As a Software Engineer in the IKEA Supply Intelligent Automation team, you will work in a modern cloud based Azure environment and be a part of the community continuously developing our data platforms, integration and automation capabilities. You will be regularly involved in workshops and brainstorms with process, product, solutions and user teams to determine and deliver on small and large automation opportunities. Supporting a complex organization to realize the benefits that intelligent automation can bring is at the heart of the role. 

More specifically, in this role you will be accountable for:  

  • Lead the technical development activities across Intelligent Automation Centre of Excellence streams  
  • Review and approve the code developed by the development team to ensure good quality 
  • Manage the execution phase ensuring smooth transition of deliverables (from execute to service) 
  • Provide architectural and design directions ensuring consistency 
  • Review solution design to ensure good quality and optimized service offering based on the latest technologies and to drive a competitive advantage for our users 
  • Provide technical leadership for Intelligent Automation Engineers across the organisation, fostering a culture of support and collaboration in the team 
  • Drive continuous improvement, collaboration and knowledge sharing of methodologies, tools and materials across the IKEA Intelligent Automation community 
  • Ensure consistency by sharing relevant development techniques, digital frameworks, and best practices.  
  • Keep up to date with the latest automation technology trends  

In this role you will report to our Planning Manager in Data & Technology at IKEA Supply, under the leadership of our Intelligent Automation Leaders.

To be successful in this role, we believe you are a strong Software Engineering who is able to naturally and effectively communicate, collaborate, network and build relationships across a complex organisation. You should also be able to make advanced technical solutions understood and embraced by both technical and non-technical co-workers.  

We believe you have a track record from leadership and business development in complex organisations and experience from modern development techniques such as Agile and DevOps. You have a solid proficiency with an appropriate set of languages (e.g. SQL, VB code, Python), technologies (e.g. Robotics Process Automation, Machine Learning, Power Platform, UI/UX design), frameworks (e.g Azure BotFramework, Azure DataStorage), cloud environments (Azure preferred) and data interchange formats (e.g. ISON, YAML, XML). You have had successful hands on experience in software development (e.g. .Net, Java) with a good understanding of development practices and lifecycle challenges (including supporting tools like GIT and Jira). You have performed analysis across various domains to identify opportunities for Artificial Intelligence based automation, process automation, Cloud based automation, self-service creation and delivered them successfully.
