Job Description

The Director of Payroll plays a crucial role in providing operational direction and technical support for payroll, human resources, tax compliance, and package fulfillment roles. This leadership position requires an individual with a deep understanding of iSolved HCM software, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to manage a diverse team. The successful candidate will oversee daily processing, troubleshoot software-related issues, and contribute to the growth and success of YPD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational direction and technical support for payroll, human resources, tax compliance, and package fulfillment roles.
  • Oversee daily processing, supporting and troubleshooting operational and technical aspects of payroll software systems.
  • Master iSolved HCM software, including report writing capabilities.
  • Assist in new client setup and handle daily tax, finance, and ACH functions as needed.
  • Expand ACA offering and contribute to the rollout of future software upgrades.
  • Create and implement procedures through audit mechanisms to streamline processing for challenging clients.
  • Implement project goals such as data uploads, HR/ACA compliance, time and attendance, and G/L interface.
  • Build rapport with clients and co-workers, ensuring YPD team members maintain workflow and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Manage time efficiently to handle various tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Provide leadership and assess current operations annually to define plans for future growth. 
  • Learn key functions of each team role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Proficiency in iSolved HCM Payroll Software, Outlook, Excel, and Word, and other relevant software programs.
  • Previous experience managing a multi-faceted payroll operations team.
  • Strong understanding of payroll software systems and technical troubleshooting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience in expanding ACA offerings and implementing software upgrades is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge in payroll, tax/benefits rules, policies and laws required. Familiarity with with the provisions of Payroll services in a Service Bureau is helpful. 
  • Strong coaching, training, and motivating skills essential.
  • Previous employee management experience required. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, utilizing diplomacy and tact to diffuse high-tension situations.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and QuickBooks is a plus.
