Nazarbayev University School of Medicine, established in 2015, is being developed in partnership with the University Of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and offers a US-style curriculum taught in English. NUSOM’s mission is to educate a new generation of clinically skilled and research-focused physicians prepared for leadership positions in research, education, and clinical care to improve the health of individuals in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and around the world.

Job Description

1.  To help in conducting laboratory session of the School of Medicine;

2.  To keep and maintain laboratory equipment in good condition;

3.  To prepare plans of practical and laboratory classes in accordance with the instructions of the faculty members, and the available equipment and reagents;

4.  To ensure following of the safety rules in laboratories;

5.  To brief on the safe and proper use of equipment;

6.  To analyze the need for laboratory equipment, consumables, reagents, on the basis of costs;

7.  To process applications for purchasing the laboratory equipment, consumables and reagents;

8.  To maintain adequate inventory;

9.  To assist in course-related activities as assigned by Department Chair/ Dean.

Qualifications

Bachelor/Master degree in the following fields: Medicine, Biomedicine, Genetics, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or other fields related to the position.

Excellent knowledge of safety basics during the work on laboratory equipment.

1.  Communication and organizational skills;

2.  Good analytical and critical thinking skills;

3.  Team-work and independent work skills;

4.  Problem-solving ability;

5.  Fluent in English, Kazakh and Russian (written and oral);

6.  Advanced MS Office experience.
