DCI Group is a professional services firm providing public affairs advocacy services primarily to large multi-national corporations and global investors. The firm is privately owned by management, very profitable, and has been operating for more than 20 years.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and support both the Controller and Vice President of Finance by performing a variety of tasks involving accounting and the financial management of the company. The scope of the position will include both accounting and financial analysis tasks and may include supervision for some clerical activities.

The position requires strong professional skills and experience and the ability to be creative and operate independently applying professional judgment to situations that do not always have a clear direction or answer. The incumbent will interface directly with line operations management and staff and well as clerical and other administrative personnel.

 

Job Description

·       Assists the Controller in the establishment of standard policies, processes and practices and will participate in the operation and enhancement of financial systems

·       Primary responsibility for oversight of client engagement project accounting

·       Maintains, analyzes, and reconciles ledger accounts and bank statements

·       Participates in the preparation of financial analyses, financial projections, cash management projections, budgets and financial plans

·       Drafts multiple subsidiary entity financial statements

·       “Owns” the monthly revenue forecasting process

·       Prepares journal entries and account adjustments

·       Heavy participation in standard and ad hoc financial analyses, and the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts

·       Assists with the work of external CPAs

·       Participates in the preparation of federal and state income, sales and use and personal property tax returns

·       Assists in the monthly close and preparation of financial statements and variance analyses

·       May supervise some clerical activities and participate in revenue cycle or disbursement cycle activities

·       Senior Accountant will need to be comfortable pitching in and working at a variety of levels, generally doing what needs to be done to ensure accurate and timely financial reports are produced

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

·       Bachelors degree in accounting required

Experience Required:

·       At least 2 years’ experience in public accounting auditing for-profit companies desired

·       Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with automated accounting systems

·       Experience in preparation of financial statements for multiple subsidiaries/businesses
