Job Description

In this role, as Packaging Solution Engineer (PSE), you will develop, document and improve the optimal packaging solution for BA CHILI and HFB 9 Childreens IKEA in specific. The guiding principles for your work is all aspects of Democratic Design and total value chain throughout the product lifecycle. This is done in close cooperation with product developers, engineers, suppliers and store co-workers, to ensure that the solutions will work all the way from the supplier to the customer in an omni channel environment. Sustainability is high on the agenda with plastic free packaging. 

As a Packaging Solution Engineer you will:

  • Work with multiple product areas (PA) both within market hall and furniture
  • Develop, Secure and verify that the solution is meeting all packaging requirements
  • Keep the documentation updated and correct according to IKEA Documentation Guideline and standards
  • Find packaging improvement potentials and give input to action plan
  • Capturing learnings, sharing knowledge, and communicating in BA and Matrix dimension

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are passionate about creating the best packaging solution for the customer at the right price, with the right quality, with beautiful design and with a clear focus on sustainability. We believe that you have an education within engineering as well as theoretical and practical background within packaging and its impact of the value chain - from raw material to the co-worker and customer perspective. 

You have knowledge in packaging construction in terms of drawing technique, technical solutions and design for manufacturing. Furthermore, you have knowledge in packaging requirements and global packaging test methods and standards. To succeed in this role you need to master SolidWorks and Artios CAD as tools in your work.

For this position we highly value great communication skills and the ability to lead yourself to make things happen. To be successful, you also need to have both analytical and creative skills and the ability to transfer knowledge, concepts and ideas into packaging solutions.
