Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant who is passionate, motivated, technically astute, and collaborative with a focus on Sustainable and Ethical Procurement. This role will be nationally focused, with the flexibility to work from Sydney, Melbourne, or Adelaide noting we are also open to other locations within Australia. 

We are looking for a procurement or supply chain professional that is ready to bring their commercial acumen, critical thinking, and problem solving to the world of sustainable and ethical supply.

Areas of Focus 

Our work in supply chain centres on advancing sustainable procurement practices, mitigating the risks associated with Modern Slavery, and identifying opportunities to create inclusive and diverse supply chains through social procurement efforts. 

We’re interested in hearing from applicants that have experience in these areas, or have a passion to learn more: 

Sustainable Procurement:  

  • Supporting the development of procurement strategies, policies and processes to advance positive social and environmental impact 
  • Understanding of the full procurement lifecycle to identify opportunities to embed sustainability into an organisation 
  • Category management and category plan development 
  • Application of risk, opportunity and criticality in a procurement context 
  • Evaluation methodologies to identify key metrics to support measurement of success 
  • Supplier and supply chain engagement and management  
  • Contracting and contract management  
  • Supply chain risk and its impact on social and environmental risks 
  • The principles of ISO20400 

Modern Slavery: 

  • Modern slavery and human rights risk assessment and prioritisation 
  • Risk mitigation roadmaps and implementation support 
  • Remediation and other policy development 
  • Reporting and evaluation frameworks 
  • Preparation of Modern Slavery statements 
  • Staff and supplier training 

Social Procurement: 

  • Social procurement opportunities analysis  
  • Social procurement framework/policy development and implementation  
  • Product social impact analysis  
  • Social impact measurement  

Qualifications

You will be client-focussed, known for your positive attitude, have strong interpersonal skills, and be seen as a trusted advisor. You will be adaptable and able to balance priorities spanning delivery and business development. 

To be successful in this role you will also have:

  • > 2 years experience in procurement and or 2 years experience in sustainability consulting (highly desirable) with a focus on:
    • Sustainable and ethical procurement
    • Logistics and supply chain
  • A degree in Business, Economics, Commerce, or Law and/or MBA from a leading business school and/or CIPS qualifications or similar
    • Excellent report writing, analytical skills (including Microsoft Excel expertise), and attention to detail
    • A passion to use your skills for good and create a positive impact
    • A proven track record of working autonomously
    • Solid project management experience and demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and delivery to deadlines
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • A point of view on sustainability including key trends, best practices, and challenges and opportunities for change
    • The ability to navigate complex client challenges (even if you don’t know the answer) and work with a team and project partners to success
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
