Älmhult is home to IKEA Range & Supply that has the responsibility to develop, design, produce and supply IKEA retail channels with home furnishing solutions available for the many people. Each year IKEA Range & Supply introduces around 2,000 new products around the world and the total range is almost 10,000. So what happens in Älmhult definitely doesn't stay in Älmhult. Range & Product Engineering is part of Range & Product Development in Inter IKEA. The Product Engineering organization enables, thru innovation and advanced engineering to live up to and strengthen our democratic design and thereby support the Business Areas to deliver to better homes and better products.

Job Description

Do you want to be responsible to capture technical, safety, legal and market demands for the product area you work in, as well as develop new tangible, technical requirements built on the insights of customer’s needs, expectations and behaviors? 

In BA TESEC we develop time limited collections which include articles surprising with new design, functions and materials. Here you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of product types and face many technical challenges every day.

As a Product Requirement Engineer you will be as technical specialist in product development team with assignment to deliver collections. Below is main part of your job responsibilities:

  • Identify and assign relevant product requirements to products in development
  • Develop part of the technical documentation for new products with focus on compliance and quality.
  • Secure all relevant documents are connected to product documentation and maintain it up to date throughout product life.
  • Develop test plans based on product requirements
  • Prepare prototypes and make them available for test labs
  • Make test orders, analyze and draw conclusions from test results and take decision on next step in the development together with other members in the development teams
  • Develop new requirements and test methods when needed
  • Have a close dialogue with the purchasing organization and suppliers to secure successful implementation of product documentation and create understanding for the technical agenda.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • University Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Knowledge and ability to work with technical requirements, market requirements, customer requirements, technical solutions and innovation.
  • Product engineering, such as design for cost, circularity, manufacturing
  • Knowledge in digital tools (CAD, virtual prototyping and visualizations)
  • Product documentation and verification methods
  • Previous experience from textile, natural fibers industry is advantage
  • IKEA specific: IKEA vision, Democratic Design, IKEA business model and IKEA value chain.

The position is permanent and located in Älmhult, Sweden. Älmhult has excellent commuting possibilities with hourly trains to Malmö, Lund and Växjö and an IKEA shuttle bus back and forth to Helsingborg two times a day.
