Our client, Milton Harward, is seeking a skilled Excavator Driver to join their Auckland team in a full-time, permanent capacity. With over 30 years of experience in residential & commercial construction and forestry and walkways projects, their values are formed around communication, expertise and safety first.

 

Job Description

This is an ideal role for a skilled excavator driver (small excavators, less than two tonnes) who enjoys working on various projects: commercial, residential and foresty/walkways projects.

The first tasking for this role will be to travel to Taranaki for a summer-long project. You will be living on the mountain as part of a team, building boardwalks, steps, and other structures on Taranaki Maunga to protect the whenua from wear and tear and allow it to be more easily accessible to the public. Fixed Term 7 am - 5.30 pm, 100 per fortnight (7days on four days off).

Accommodation will be provided on the mountain. You will stay on the mountain for seven days. Some of the sites will involve being transported by 4WD or Helicopter each day, then a walk out each day, which is about a 3-hour undulating walk (paid). On your block days off, we would transport you home to Auckland e.g.by carpool/van.

After that, you will be provided permanent and full-time work back in Auckland (and any other national projects that become available).
 

Qualifications

Are you the person that we are looking for? In addition to enjoying the above work, you will be competent in operating and driving heavy machinery, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.

We want hard workers with good communication skills and a team player. Ready to get stuck in with whatever needs to be done. You will be proactive and quick to learn. You must enjoy working outdoors and be prepared to work in all weather conditions – (PPE supplied).

You will be someone with a great sense of humour, reliable and punctual, hard-working and adaptable. You will have excellent attention to detail, follow instructions, and can work independently and as part of a team.
You will have an exceptional commitment to health and safety, a good attitude towards maintenance and care of machinery, be physically fit and healthy. You will also need to be double vaccinated for COVID-19.

Additional Information

You will be able to provide two references and pass a pre-employment drug test and then random drug testing on-site.
