Job Description

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the role exists to lead our practice across ANZ, driving growth and creating and maintaining key relationships with our clients, agencies and the sport and entertainment industry.  This role collaborates cross-functionally with our global network and the Publicis Groupe ANZ agencies to create and deliver new sport and entertainment commercial opportunities (both traditional and esports) by connecting brands and consumers through shared passions and properties.

 

Key Outputs

Management

  • Influencing cross functional teams that will deliver campaigns from end to end, being across briefing, response, implementation and deliverables.
  • Ensure financials and project revenue are up to date, including profit margins.
  • Build a business plan that forecasts revenue, engagement and profitability.
  • Lead propositions and projects from end to end delivering revenue and receiving positive feedback from all stakeholders.
  • Create, concept, and present sport strategies and integrated marketing campaigns aligned to our clients’ media or communications strategy.
  • Define the role sport needs to play in the overall communications strategy and how this comes to life via key brand pillars.  Brand pillars that ladder up to communications strategy, brand strategy/creative platform, any global and local guidelines and audience/category understanding.
  • Understand and use proprietary and third party tools to help derive insights.
  • Coordinate stakeholders across the company to ensure the effectiveness and adoption of best in class thinking. consulting and direction in response to client briefs or uncover new opportunities
  • Oversee and understand analytics, performance, trends, competitor behaviour and best practice to optimise and fuel new strategies where relevant.
  • Develop and design sport led solutions reactively and proactively
  • Ultimately be responsible for the deliverables on all projects.
  • Understand broader channel implications for sport and entertainment and how they can be optimised to align to and maximise insights, opportunities and distribution.
  • Manage conflicting clients across the brands portfolio.

 

Sport & Entertainment expertise

  • Credibility and deep understanding of the sport and entertainment landscape, working with senior level clients and executives across rights holders, publishers, talent and clubs.
  • Build relationships that create new, proprietary, or first mover opportunities with rights holder and our clients.
  • Distribution and how they apply across the consumer journey.
  • Create and promote case studies at the completion of each project.
  • Use expertise to drive additional revenue opportunities outside of briefed projects.
  • Be proactive in developing new ways of working or processes to improve the teams position, output and/or efficiencies.
  • Wear multiple hats encompassing research/consulting, sales, activation management, media, creative.

 

Agency support

  • Build strong relationships with agency brands, MDs/GMs etc.
  • Be available to assist on new business pitches where required.
  • Provide training opportunities to internal staff to grow capabilities and understanding across the five agency brands and practices.
  • Provide thought leadership at internal or industry events.
  • Apply our SLA and RACI model with the agency brands.

 

Partner relationships and management

  • Act as trusted conduit between internal and external contacts on each project.
  • Develop key senior and productive relationships within the sport and entertainment landscape.
  • Ensure that Publicis Groupe’s Sport & Entertainment is seen as approachable, helpful and knowledgeable at all times, both internally and externally.
  • Understand the importance of working collaboratively internally, with publishers, third party suppliers and sport bodies.
  • Build new partnerships that benefit our product and revenue.

 

Client satisfaction

  • Be an ambassador for Publicis Groupe’s Sport & Entertainment and provide specialist advice to clients where required alongside the client teams.
  • Meet and exceed all client expectations at all times, including scoring highly in client reviews.
  • Be unafraid to challenge traditional thinking and approaches, where necessary.
  • Understand our client’s brands and how best to articulate them in sport and entertainment adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Deliver new opportunities to clients as required to drive their business results further.

 

Team leadership

  • Lead by example and build a positive working environment for Publicis Groupe’s Sports and Entertainment practice.

Ideal Experience

  • 7+ years experience within media planning/buying, content or sports marketing.
  • Industry experience within the Sport & Entertainment space.
  • Established relationships with key sports rights holders/codes throughout ANZ.
  • Excellent knowledge of the ANZ Sports landscape.
  • Confident in negotiating complex commercial partnerships.
  • Proven track record in driving successful sports partnerships.
  • Experience of working across agency pitches.
  • Strong understanding of the ANZ agency marketplace.
  • Credibility and deep understanding of the sport and entertainment landscape, working with senior level clients and executives across rights holders, publishers, talent and clubs.
