Job Description

About the role:

The Fundraising Events Coordinator is directly responsible for cultivating, supporting and implementing national, branded campaigns as well as independent, volunteer-generated events. The Coordinator will work in close collaboration with AFTD’s Development and Communications department and hundreds of event hosts to support in-person, virtual and hybrid campaigns. The Coordinator will be present at various in-person events, acting as the organizer and managing site set up and break down, or as a supporter, representing AFTD at an event. They will also coordinate efforts from organizing staff and volunteers to prepare for and execute fundraising events. As requested by the Special Events Manager, the Coordinator may also provide administrative support for targeted AFTD Special Events or meetings.  

Essential Job Functions 

  • National Campaign Coordination: Implement formalized, replicable processes for volunteer-led fundraising efforts; provide support and problem-solving assistance to event hosts throughout the process. Update and maintain systems, spreadsheets and documents supporting event hosts, campaigns, events and programs. 
  • Independent Event Coordination: Provide support and problem-solving assistance to event hosts through a variety of independent events and campaigns including races, golf outings, product sales, etc., which occur year-round. 
  • Social Media Fundraising: Identify and utilize collaboration opportunities through the organization’s Facebook page to connect with growing volume of volunteer-led fundraising efforts; manage and track donations in AFTD’s Salesforce database. 
  • Promotion and Recognition: Write and inform articles for newsletters, e-newsletters, Annual Reports and other communication vehicles. Promote and coordinate the distribution of marketing materials for campaigns and events through AFTD’s website, e-blasts and social media. Promote and coordinate the distribution of promotional marketing materials and contribute to ongoing marketing campaign.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • This position is an individual contributor and does not have supervisory responsibilities.  

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma with a minimum of five years of relevant experience may also be considered. 
  • Minimum of two years of experience in an administrative role for fundraising, planning grassroots or special events, marketing or social media. This can include volunteer activity.  
  • Experience in database management required. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Salesforce or other CRM experience a plus. 
  • Communication, marketing or public relations experience desired. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort working with wide-ranging community online, by phone and in person. 
  • Travel throughout the continental US is an important component of this position; 10-12 trips per year, including weekend travel. 
  • Provide active support of Fundraising Events, which are frequently outdoors and are subject to the climate of the day; standing should be expected throughout the majority of the day during these events.
