Job Description

NCBA CLUSA is currently seeking qualified Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer candidates (either 1- US volunteer willing to travel or 2 volunteers for a hybrid assignment- 1 remote US volunteer and 1- volunteer based in Honduras) for the position of Coffee Client Specialist to support  Asociación de Productores de Café “El Sauce” – APROCA based in (Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Honduras)

Job Description: APROCAS is a non-profit coffee association founded in the community of San Luis Planes in 2015. They produce different coffee varieties; Pacas, Catuai, Parainema, Borbon, Geisha, and Lempira on approximately 184 hectares of land.  APROCAS currently sells green coffee indirectly through an exporting company which manages most of their client´s portfolio. Last harvest they sold 160,000 pounds of green coffee distributed to the United States and Japan. They would like to develop a strategy to establish direct relationships with new international clients from the United States which would include communication and identification of possible coffee clients.  They are looking forward to reducing their actual cost of exporting their green coffees indirectly.

Duration: 2 weeks, August - December 2022          

ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Work with members to assess the previous methods used to attract potential buyers
  • Collaborate with the participants to develop a strong coffee sales proposition
  • Develop a client strategy with the participants, this should include tips for identifying, approaching, and communicating with possible clients.
  • Develop a portfolio of clients in the United States

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing and/or a related field
  • Experience developing market strategies.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience on sales analysis and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of coffee clients or roasters in the United States or other countries
  • Previous experience supporting coffee farmers.
  • Available for virtual communications with Host Organization, Staff and Co-volunteer
  • US candidate must be legally able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Advanced English language skills; reading, writing, speaking.
