The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

You will be a member of a team of Project Managers working across a portfolio of capital works projects ensuring the successful completion of projects, the functional requirements of the University are met and projects are completed on time within budget and to specification.

Some key aspects and responsibilities include:

  • Project Design – establishing projects including consultant engagement documentation and contracts, design documentation regarding space allocation and functional requirements, legislation requirements, and review/oversight of projects at key design stages.
  • Project Procurement - Manage the preparation of tender documents, calling and evaluation of tenders, and letting of contracts, ensuring that prescribed procedures and standards are met. Review and report on tenders. Prepare contract document on the University's behalf, including agreement of stages and separable portions.
  • Construction Management - Lead and manage internal/external project management teams, administration of consultant and construction contracts or administer the contracts directly, liaise with consultants and Engineer to the Contract throughout the construction and fit-out stages and manage claims and disputes.
  • Stakeholder Management - Manage the process of external and internal stakeholder engagement and community liaison. Maintain records of meetings, correspondence and discussions
  • Strategic and Risk management - Ensure that appropriate strategic and risk management processes are in place
  • Health & Safety and Equity Development

To be considered for this role, you will ideally hold a relevant construction industry related tertiary qualification and demonstrate significant project management experience of building projects including project related design, stakeholder and financial management and reporting.

You will demonstrate a high-level ability to influence and communicate effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders. You will operate with energy and passion and will demonstrate a collaborative approach where they partner closely with peers, value the needs of others and model best practice principals and behaviours. Teamwork, customer focus and negotiation skills are vital to the role.
