Job Description

 

  • Preparing materials for jobs
  • Measuring, marking, and record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed
  • Loading and unloading building materials, machinery, and tools and distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications
  • Moving construction or extraction materials to locations as needed
  • Mixing, pouring, and spreading concrete/other aggregate mixtures, using portable cement/aggregate mixers.
  • Completing foundations and earthworks for installation of steps/boardwalks/box steps
  • Constructing a variety of timber and concrete based structures from site plans using core carpentry skills
  • Installation of steps/box steps/boardwalks and other timber constructions
  • Operating power tools and machinery instructed
  • Cleaning and preparing construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
  • Ensuring the Health & Safety of everyone in and around work site

Qualifications

  • Three years plus construction experience
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Own hand tools – essential
  • Experience with nail guns, drills, and power tools
  • Must enjoy working outdoors and be prepared to work in all weather conditions – (PPE supplied)
  • A great sense of humour
  • Ability to work and get along with other team members
  • Physically fit as this job requires a lot of walking
  • Reliable and Punctual
  • Hard-working and adaptable
  • Great attention to detail and safety-conscious
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive and quick to learn
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug test and then random drug testing on site
  • Be able to provide 2 referees for reference checks
