Job Description
- Preparing materials for jobs
- Measuring, marking, and record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed
- Loading and unloading building materials, machinery, and tools and distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications
- Moving construction or extraction materials to locations as needed
- Mixing, pouring, and spreading concrete/other aggregate mixtures, using portable cement/aggregate mixers.
- Completing foundations and earthworks for installation of steps/boardwalks/box steps
- Constructing a variety of timber and concrete based structures from site plans using core carpentry skills
- Installation of steps/box steps/boardwalks and other timber constructions
- Operating power tools and machinery instructed
- Cleaning and preparing construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
- Ensuring the Health & Safety of everyone in and around work site
Qualifications
- Three years plus construction experience
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Own hand tools – essential
- Experience with nail guns, drills, and power tools
- Must enjoy working outdoors and be prepared to work in all weather conditions – (PPE supplied)
- A great sense of humour
- Ability to work and get along with other team members
- Physically fit as this job requires a lot of walking
- Reliable and Punctual
- Hard-working and adaptable
- Great attention to detail and safety-conscious
- Able to follow instructions
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive and quick to learn
- Able to pass pre-employment drug test and then random drug testing on site
- Be able to provide 2 referees for reference checks
