Human Services Management Corporation (HSMC) provides shared business and consulting services to both non-profit and proprietary human services agencies. These services include accounting, payroll, third-party billing and collections, human resources, online and live Continuing Education, marketing, facility development and quality assurance programs.

HSMC is currently seeking a Insurance Billing and Collections Specialist!

Responsibilities

• Perform coding and billing tasks on a computerized health information technology system.
• Submit insurance claims to clearinghouse or individual insurance companies electronically or via paper CMS-1500 form.
• Review denials and partially paid claims and help resolve discrepancies/resubmit claims in a timely fashion
• Follow up on pending claims to insure they are paid and/or corrected
• Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients and providers
• Collect delinquent accounts
• Utilize collection agencies and small claims court to collect accounts
• Create insurance and client aging reports
• Follows HIPAA guidelines in handling patient information
• Other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Supervisory or Management team

• High School Diploma or higher required
• Successful completion of a program in medical billing and coding will be considered in lieu of degree preferred
• Experience in medical or hospital billing or collections strongly preferred
• Must have ability to handle multiple and changing priorities and meet deadlines
