Old Skull Games, a growing game creator based in Lyon, is looking for an experienced F2P Game Designer to join its growing team. 

Old Skull Games works on prestigious IPs in partnership with publishers/IP owners and on original self-published creations. 

Self-publishing is a significant growth area for the company. Tiny Worlds, our first title in that space, reached the symbolic milestones of 1 million dollars in gross revenue and demonstrated our commitment and determination to succeed in this new activity. 

While currently focusing on the free-to-play mobile space, our ambition goes beyond this market and model. We aim to create, produce, publish, and operate ambitious and original cross-platform games that will positively impact both our players and the industry.

As a Senior F2P Game Designer, your role will be to understand how our games work to have a clear vision to constantly suggest design improvements (features, balancing, …), leading to higher player engagement and game revenues.

Your main tasks:

  • Design new features for our established mobile games to maximize short & long-term player engagement on top of game revenues.

  • Design and plan live ops & upcoming content.

  • Write design documents to communicate your vision to the team.

  • Write detailed micro documents for in-game features to provide all the information programmers will need.

  • Collaborate with game designers to make sure all new game features fit within the established economy model.

  • Work with data analysts to define and study in-game data to improve our games.

  • Drive new initiatives to monetize and reward the customer base.

  • Participate with the design team to create fun, engaging, and outstanding player experiences.

  • Maintain a good understanding of the market by monitoring new games and trends in the F2P and GAAS space.

 

Qualifications

Your profile:

  • Proven experience of at least 5 years on F2P/GAAS/MMO/Social games with a strong incentive on managing and planning live-ops.

  • Experience in running a game as a service with a solid understanding of how to use and analyze data to adjust player experience and mechanics and improve game performances.

  • Good understanding of classic games design and current mobile game trends on engagement, retention, and monetization.

  • Strong ability to design retention and monetization mechanics that fit within the established design of a game.

  • Skillful at presenting and detailing mechanics through documents and graphic elements such as mock-ups and diagrams using Photoshop on top of the G Suite.

  • Experience with data analysis.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of F2P mobile and GAAS market, staying updated on industry trends, key competitors, and best practices.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet changing priorities on multiple simultaneous projects.

  • Be a team player: we use agile development methods, where the team members are in permanent contact. An open mind and good communication skills are a must.

  • Have a good command of English.

  • Having a good knowledge of Unity is a plus.
