Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are currently have two permanent full time (1 FTE) opportunities open and are looking to appoint at Professional Teaching Fellow (PTF) and/or Lecturer level with our ideal candidates being able to start between early December 2021 and early 2022.

Professional Teaching Fellow (PTF): This is a teaching position with no research component. The main purpose of this position is to undertake research-informed teaching, professional supervision, and related professional duties, in areas of TESOL, literacies and/or Pacific education.

Salary band is from PTF 1 $90,404 to PTF 4 $118,953.

Lecturer: This is a research and teaching position. The main purpose of this position is to undertake research, research-informed teaching and thesis supervision, and related professional duties, in the areas of TESOL, literacies and/or Pacific education.

Salary band is from L1 $85,274 up to L7 $101,867.

Salary offered will be dependent on experience and please note that start dates can be negotiated.

Important Skills/ Experience| Nga Pūkenga Motuhake

Professional Teaching Fellow (PTF):

  • Experience of primary /secondary/early childhood schools setting in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Teaching experience in the areas of TESOL and/or Literacies education
  • Strong networks in schools and childhood centres

Lecturer:

  • Strong ability to maintain research outputs and a record of publications
  • Strong ability to attract and supervise masters and doctoral students

You will be working closely with a range of Professional and Academic Staff, involved with a variety of subjects and high levels of research, some of which is linked to our Woolf Fisher Research centre and The Marie Clay Research Centre.

Qualifications

Lecturer - Doctorate in Literacies, Languages, Bilingual Education, TESOL /SLA, Pacific Education or a similar field (or near completed).

PTF -  Post Graduate Qualification in Education or a related discipline

            New Zealand teacher registration
