Job Description

Position Summary: WithinReach is often the first point of contact for Washington families and individuals seeking information about public benefits and local resources. The Bilingual Family Support Specialist provides developmental screening and connects families with young children to child development and parenting support resources. They help families navigate early childhood systems and programs and provide culturally sensitive support. The Bilingual Family Support Specialist will be trained by WithinReach staff on telephone casework, early childhood subjects, and relevant early childhood systems of care, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, data collection, and best practices for resource navigation.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process completed Ages & Stages Questionnaires and share results with families
  • Provide early childhood and development information and systems navigation including follow-up as needed
  • Process and troubleshoot internal and external referrals to Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) in King County (program is also known as Early Intervention or Birth to Three)
  • Maintain up-to-date information on ESIT referral pathways, such as provider capacity and information updates
  • Loop back with referring providers and provide an update on the status of the referral
  • Track client interactions and resource information provided in multiple client management systems
  • Attend internal teams meetings and meetings with other providers and partner organizations
  • Coordinate and assist with trainings for WithinReach team members and external providers
  • Maintain internal process documents and provide program support to other staff

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • 1-3 years of experience working directly with low-income, and culturally diverse families
  • Access to reliable internet service, an internet stipend is included with this position (Recommended minimum of 25mpbs for better voice and audio quality)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bicultural preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience in early childhood education, child development screening or social services
  • Experience in remote and/or telephone casework
  • Familiarity with Washington State programs such as Basic Food, child development resources, WIC, and Medicaid.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work in a remote environment
  • Comfortable with a variety of technology, such as softphone, email, text and eFax
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse cultural, ethnic, linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to manage responsibilities independently and work with limited supervision, as well as in a strong team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to listen to information while collecting and inputting data into client management systems

Additional Information
