Who we are?

At Cesar Australia, we believe in practical science and sustainable solutions. We conduct scientific research and extension across agriculture, conservation and biosecurity, working on a range of native and invasive land and aquatic animals and plants. Multi-year projects are the norm, but we also offer customised services such as training workshops, outreach talks, laboratory-based services and genetic strategies for threatened species. Making sure our research is innovative, can be applied in the real-world, and is delivered and accessible to the user is paramount.

What will you be doing?

You will perform the role of Extension Scientist by developing communication and extension offerings that use leading and innovative technologies to support research adoption and agricultural industry capacity building. Ultimately, you will navigate Cesar Australia’s extension initiatives with a view to achieve practice change among end-users by promoting and explaining the real-life application of Cesar Australia’s research findings. In this role you will:

• Support the Team Lead - Extension in achieving Cesar Australia’s extension goals.

• Contribute to extension strategies and project design.

• Identify Cesar Australia research outputs requiring extension, as well as, developing and executing delivery pathways. This involves organising workshops, developing information videos, writing engaging articles, holding webinars or speaking at conferences and industry meetings.

• Collaborate with Cesar Australia researchers and project partners on the development of practical tools and resources for grain growers, and other agricultural industries and identify extension output needs.

• Make use of new technologies and extension best-practices to support effective and efficient research adoption.

• Liaise with funding bodies and project collaborators to support launch of new agricultural extension initiatives.

What would make you a good candidate?

• You have a degree in agriculture, natural resource management, or environmental science and previous experience working within agriculture, particularly in the grains or horticulture space.

• You are experienced in developing written materials that articulate, interpret, and explain complex scientific concepts.

• You are a goal-orientated communicator, and you have the ability to understand scientific research and share this information effectively with a large spectrum of different stakeholders.

• You are a confident public speaker, who can assimilate information quickly, and has experience developing and running workshops.

• You are motivated by a fast-paced environment where you will have to constantly adapt with a can-do attitude - no two days are the same, seriously!
