The company’s products include utilities vending, utility lending, utility equipment financing and content services, to mention a few.

Job Description

The accountant is responsible for product reporting, financial reporting, supervising payables and receivables, supporting treasury functions, and working with the company’s tax advisors and other team members to ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met. Additionally, the accountant shall act as the administration manager and will oversee the administration staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting related
- Develops the annual budget with inputs from necessary stakeholders.
• Responsible for the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
• Be responsible for product related accounting matters.
• Responsible for financial reconciliations and reports.
• Be responsible for overseeing and managing payables, receivables.
• Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting system.
• Reviews the monthly payroll prepared to ensure that the amount to be paid corresponds to the terms of the employee’s contract.
• Develop, maintain, and analyses budgets, prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
• Support auditors to ensure financial audits are completed.
• Compute taxes and prepares tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.
• Responsible for ensuring the company is up to date with its statutory filings and payments e.g. FIRS< WHT, VAT, etc.
• Develop and continuously improve on the company’s accounting policies, procedures, manuals, key performance indicators etc.
• Work with product managers to develop generic and customized reports to track the financial performance of their products.
• Support management as it relates to treasury functions, financial modelling, bank relationship management, cash flow management, fundraising and other financial advisory matters.
• Responsible for making payments and managing petty cash.


Administration management
• Oversee the administration department including, but not limited to, the following:
 Facility management
 Petty cash management
 Foreign holding company administrator related management
 Managing administration related employees
 Regulator management
 Others

Qualifications

Education
 BSc or MSc in Accounting, Finance or Business
Management is preferred (with at least a second
class upper)
 Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management
Accountant designations preferred, ICAN, ACCA
(added plus)
 An MBA is an added advantage
 Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
program


Ideal experience
 Minimum of 5 years of work experience in accounting
(ideally with one of the big 4)
 Conversant with using accounting technology
software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, etc.)
 Experience with setting up accounting systems,
processes, and procedures
 People supervisory experience a plus
 Project management experience a plus
 Conversant with technology and social media
 Advanced knowledge of accounting
 Basic finance knowledge

Additional Information

Skills
 Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (GAAP).
 Knowledge of statutory accounting principles.
 Strong analytical and accounting skills.
 Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word,
MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel.
 Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major
accounting software packages for both general
ledger and statutory accounting.
 Strong organizational and time management skills
 Strong negotiation skills and the ability to set
priorities.
 Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects
simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
