Job Description

Here’s how we work:

IBI Group is seeking a talented Intermediate Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer for at our Edmonton team. You will support the design and implementation of a diverse range of projects including master planning, civic plazas, urban parks, streetscapes, cycling infrastructure and residential communities. You believe in achieving design excellence in all of your designs.  

As part of the Placemaking team, you will be part of a fast-paced dynamic environment creating contemporary, inclusive, responsive, sustainable public and private high-quality spaces. You will be involved in all phases of the project from master planning, consultation, conceptual design through to detailed design and contract administration. 

Most of the things you’ll work on:

  • Work with Senior Landscape Architects to design creative, context-sensitive urban environments to support public and private sector projects
  • Internal and external collaboration with Planners, Architects and Engineers
  • Prepare visually compelling graphic presentations and develop creative technical solutions
  • Assist in the preparation of design briefs and technical reports
  • Ensure project deliverables comply with local standards and contract requirements
  • Assist with contract administration and site inspections as necessary.

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution within the field of Landscape Architecture
  • Minimum of 3 years (post-graduation) of relevant working experience in a professional design firm
  • Registered Member or Associate Member of AALA or eligible to register 
  • Understanding of design excellence principles with demonstrated high quality work that elevates design
  • Strong visualization skills considered an asset
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of assisting in the preparation of reports and developing design narratives under the direction of a Senior Landscape Architect
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of the Landscape Architecture field such as planting, grading, storm water management and construction detailing
  • Experience in preparation of construction documentation
  • Proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and SketchUp
  • Valid driver's license is considered an asset

Additional Information

Due to COVID 19, we have implemented a work from home model until we return to the office. When we return to the office, you must be able to commute to our location at 10830 Jasper Ave. It’s surrounded by convenient LRT stations, bus stops, and paid parking lots. Throughout the year, the office hosts several social events (in office and out of office) to build and strengthen ties between our many employees.
