Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

To provide the student with a disability a comprehensive set of typed notes within 24 hours of the lecture.  These notes are intended for the student to use for their own purpose of study. Hourly rate is $23.68 per hour and you also accrue 8% holiday pay on a casual employment agreement based on hours submitted for payment.

The Note taker must:

  • Be Punctual, reliable, and attend all lectures in person (note taking from recordings are only at the discretion and prior approval from Student Disability staff).
  • Be organised and have the ability to summarise information effectively.
  • Respect the privacy of the student.  Do not disclose who you are note taking for.
  • Type notes in a word document, any exceptions to this must be approved by Student Disability Services
  • Students are encouraged to leave feedback on your notes and you may need to adjust your note taking to meet those requirements
  • Provide notes that are factual and cover the verbal content given by the lecturer, not just re-typing power points or providing a transcript of the lecture.
  • Provide notes that are accessible
  • Clearly structured and well referenced notes are easier to read and support the students learning better than a verbatim record.

The benefit to you of being a note taker is that it can improve your own note taking and be an additional skill to add to your CV.
