Job Description

You will be joining a small team that is leading the charge to modernize the systems and processes utilized by People and People Managers throughout the City's departments and agencies. As a first step in this effort, we have implemented a new cloud-based applicant tracking system (ATS) and an API-integrated, AWS-hosted, custom application to support our civil-service hiring processes.

Under the general supervision of the program’s technical lead your day may include any of these tasks:

  • Developing additional functions and processes to support the AWS Lambda calculation functions for the ATS Applications.

  • Identifying, investigating, and developing solutions for bugs and other erroneous activities in the Python, Java, PHP, React.js, and PostgreSQL application frameworks.

  • Engineering new and secure systems and integrations.

  • Contributing to the development of feature backlogs.

  • Supporting and maintaining CI/CD Pipelines, including Jenkins and AWS CodePipeline.

  • Participate in working groups and as a team member across divisions and organizations.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building API integrations utilizing XML and JSON formats.

  • Experience as a web developer, webmaster, or python developer.

  • Understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically in utilizing managed services including AWS Lambda, AWS Relational Database Service (RDS), Amazon Simple Queuing Service (SQS).

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and in highly collaborative environments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

An associates degree in computer science or closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field].

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in application or software development or programming.
