We are looking for an experienced and motivated research fellow with skills in: biological mass spectrometry, operation of LC-MS/MS and/or MALDI mass spectrometers, associated data analysis, education and communication.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking to appoint a motivated, experienced and energetic person to contribute to the Mass Spectrometry Hub (MaSH) at the University of Auckland. The MaSH exists to facilitate investigators from diverse research fields to apply mass spectrometry techniques to their own research and generate meaningful interpretations of mass spectrometry data.

The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in biology, chemistry, or related field of study, with preferably a track record of peer-reviewed publications in life sciences mass spectrometry. They must be able to work with others in a collaborative environment and foster an enjoyable and focussed workplace. They will have broad general knowledge of mass spectrometry techniques, with experience in the operation of LC-MS/MS mass spectrometers, sample preparation methods for LC-MS/MS analysis, and data analysis of collected data. Experience with MALDI-MS and GC-MS would be advantageous.

The main focus of the role will be to provide practical support for a range of biological and biomedical applications of mass spectrometry.

In addition, the appointee will be expected to devote a proportion of their time to developing their own research programme either independently or in collaboration with other researchers that are associated with the MaSH.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and people skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be expected to work relatively independently while under the supervision of the Principal Coordinator of the MaSH.

This is a 0.5-1.0FTE fixed term role until 31 March 2021. Candidates must be available for an immediate start.
