The purpose of the Sustainability function in the Category Area is to lead and support the implementation of the IKEA Sustainability strategy, People & Planet Positive.

Support the business development teams to set priorities, initiate and lead sustainability development projects in CA, and/or bigger impact projects with suppliers to meet sustainability goals, in line with Category Plans, within specific areas of expertise (e.g energy, water, waste, recycled materials etc)

Job Description

For a specific Category Area you are going to initiate and lead bigger impact sustainability projects on CA level (or on supplier level related to bigger impact) delivering to IKEA sustainability strategy. Focus shall be on the following main areas such as Climate-Circularity, IWAY implementation, Fair and Equal

You also have to: 

- Support the business development teams to set priorities and initiate projects with suppliers to meet sustainability goals, in line with Category Plan. 
- Support the business development teams in the sustainability assessment of potential new and existing suppliers 
- Motivate suppliers and business development teams to continuously work on sustainability development areas with the bigger impact securing future business
- Support sustainability developer to prepare for implementation of global sustainability working methods, tools and IT-systems; 
- Responsible for CA sustainability development roadmaps
- Contribute to collect, verify, aggregate and report the Category Area suppliers sustainability data (i.e. SISU, Scorecard) and provide relevant analysis to support business decisions 
- Support on-boarding to sustainability developers and introduce them into CA sustainability plans as well as support preparing team members for seniority
- Contribute to the global sustainability agenda development by leading and/or contributing to global development projects spending min 10% of working time on that 
- Support suppliers to implement IWAY as integral part of their management systems, initiate needed training
- Facilitate sustainability days, sustainability related trainings for co-workers and suppliers; 

Qualifications

You have very good knowledge of IKEA Strategic Landscape, especially Purchasing and Sustainability Strategie. You have good knowledge of how your everyday work adds customer value by delivering to Democratic Design. You also knows about sustainability focus areas and ability to turn them into action and deep knowledge of industrial set ups and specific sustainability challenges relevant to the Category Area.

You have experience of relevant Home Furnishing Business plans, Category Plans and Total Cost and knowledge of Social and Environment Management Systems (ISO 14001, SA8000, OHSAS)
You are a specialist of at least one selected sustainability area and have good knowledge of Project management tools. 
You act as an ambassador of IKEA values and Role Model for Fact-based Business leadership.
