Job Description

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to perform aquatic lower- and higher-tier laboratory studies with Daphnia, Algae, aquatic plants and fish according to the relevant OECD and/or US EPA guidelines, under GLP. This includes the elaboration of the study plans in collaboration with the clients, supervise the laboratory work, evaluate the results and write study reports in English.
Technical supervision of all study types, test organisms breeding, issue management, networking with the scientific community as well as supporting training and mentoring of junior staff, is integral part of the job description, as well as establishment of new study types.
You will participate at workshops and scientific conferences and maintain up-to-date knowledge in the area of aquatic ecotoxicology and risk assessment.
Moreover, you will be involved in client meetings/visits.

Qualifications

Ideally you have the following skills:

  • Master or PhD in Biology/Environmental Science with focus on ecotoxicology and/or aquatic sciences
  • Several years’ experience in working with aquatic organisms
  • Technical knowhow in breeding water organisms and plants
  • CRO and/or industry experience as well as GLP experience is an advantage
  • Experience in the technical leadership of teams, in communicating with industry clients and regulatory authorities
  • Operational excellence with well-structured working style
  • Team spirit and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite
  • Demonstrate motivation, initiative and pro-activity
  • Fluent in English and at least basic German knowledge
  • Very good computer and statistical skills
  • Regulatory / risk assessment know-how
