The School of Environment at the University of Auckland (UOA), New Zealand, invites outstanding applicants for a full-time academic position in the broad area of Environmental Geography. 

About the role

We seek a dynamic researcher and educator to complement existing research strengths in the school that seek to explore the interconnectedness and complexity of environment, science and society. Preference will be given to a candidate with research expertise in the Pacific Region, and a familiarity with diverse research methods. The ideal candidate will have flexible teaching interests, and applied research experience. They will contribute to our existing teaching strengths in environmental governance, management and development, political ecology, environmental justice, public engagement, and critical human geography. A willingness to collaborate with a wide range of researchers in the School and elsewhere in the University is essential.

Skills and experience

The position is at the level of Lecturer. A PhD is required and post-doctoral experience or equivalent will be an advantage. A record of research publication is expected and the successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded and internationally-recognised research programme. The successful candidate will undertake postgraduate student supervision, teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses; and contribute to School and wider university activities as required.

The School of Environment is a diverse unit of more than fifty academics who deliver programmes in Earth Sciences, Geography, Geographic Information Science, Environmental Science, and Environmental Management. We seek candidates who will interact with research groups both within and outside the School and thereby strengthen research linkages with other parts of the university.
